Flood Cure Meter

The FloodCure Meter is a self-contained radiometerthat measures and displays peak intensity and total energy used in UV curing. The meter comes in a protective foam-lined carry case, made for utility and extra protection. An optical sensing system measures UV dosage on channels: UVA (320-390nm), UVB (280-320nm), UVC (250-260nm) and UVV (395-445nm) UVA is the most common range for UV curing. Specify when ordering.

A radiometer should be chosen to fit the application and the information required. The majority of systems measure in the UVA spectrum (320nm-390nm). This is because the majority of UV chemistry responds to this band of energy. If it is desirable to measure other parts of the UV spectrum, a Selectable Radiometer is available to do so. Which wavelength to measure is also a matter of choice.

The output of the sensing system is converted to digital form and displayed on the LCD by scrolling through a user-friendly menu. Total UV dosage, measured in Joules/cm2, is the result of the integrated intensity during exposure time. It is how much actual UV energy was impinged on the unit from the time it encountered UV until the time the UV source was removed. Themeter is able to monitor the peak intensity in Watts/cm2 in each bandwidth. This allows the operator to determine not only total energy, but also how that energy is delivered; at what intensity and at what wavelength.

UV Flood Meter Features

Truly compact: 4.60" (117 mm) diameter - same as a CD! Self-contained, battery powered. Total UV dosage, Joules/cm2. Peak UV intensity, Watts/cm2 - Measures four UV ranges - UVA, UVB, UVC, UVV. Low battery indicator, user-replaceable lithium batteries. Selectable data displays.

Operation

At start-up, the operator simply exposes the radiometer to the curing process, takes readings, and make adjustments by changing length of exposure time, cleaning reflectors, or even re-lamping. The radiometer quantifies the UV curing system and takes the guesswork out of the overall curing process.

Simply push the “Reset” button and send the unit through a curing system, either conveyorized or stationary. The unit begins accumulating data when UV energy is encountered which is greater than its 5mW/cm2 threshold. After the meter has been passed through the UV process, touching the “Select” button to scroll through a simple menu can easily access the results of its measurements. Measurements displayed will be the UV bandwidth being monitored, the total UV energy in Joules/cm2, and the peak UV intensity in Watts/cm2 . If a low battery condition exists, this will also be displayed. The unit will time itself out after approximately two minutes of non-use to conserve battery life.

After the unit times itself out, the measurements obtained by the meter for all bandwidths on all menus can still be accessed by pushing the “Select” button again. This information will remain available until the user pushes the “Reset” button to initiate a new reading. The unit is able to withstand extremely demanding operating conditions. Since the internal temperature should not exceed 80°C, an audible high temperature alarm will provide a warning that the unit is approaching an unsafe internal temperature. The meter can accommodate energy intensities up to 10W/cm2. Total energy range is 0 to 250 Joules/cm2 for each UV range.

The Flood Cure Meter uses lithium, batteries, replaceable by the user. A weak battery will trigger a "Lo Battery" warning to appear on the display. Data remains valid even in "Lo Battery" status. When the battery voltage affects data integrity, zeros are displayed in all locations.

Spot Cure Meter

This UV intensity meter is a self-contained, electro-optic instrument designed to measure and display the intensity emitted by a UV spot curing system. Degradation of UV lamps, light guides, and reflectors can cause decreases in intensity and create curing problems. The EIT SpotCure Radiometer is designed to provide the operator with instant feedback as to the performance of the UV curing system.

In operation, the instrument is gripped in one hand while the light guide is inserted with the other hand. Once a UV spot curing system’s light wand is inserted into the measurement head, the user depresses the “START” switch and a measurement is taken. When the “START” switch is released, the measurement is frozen and can be viewed on the LDC display. It will be held for approximately three minutes until the display times out or until the user depresses the “START” switch again.

Adapters insert into the measurement head to accommodate the standard light wands on the market. This flexibility allows the instrument to be used in a variety of monitoring applications. Short, simple operation instructions are printed on the outside of the instrument.
The EIT SpotCure Radiometer is designed to withstand the rugged UV environment and extremely high intensities that can be associated with UV spot curing. It can monitor UV intensities up to 20W/cm2 for the standard version and 100W/cm2 for the extended range version (Special Quote).
